Karaokee (shown as “Karaoke” on Google’s sign-in screen) · last updated October 11, 2026
Karaokee is a private karaoke and party-music app run by its host for their own gatherings. This page says what it keeps and what it does with it.
If you join a party to sing
- The name and emoji you pick, and the songs you queue, favourite or sing.
- A cookie on your phone so the party recognises you when you come back. No account or password is needed.
This is shown to the people at the party (on the TV and their phones) and kept as the party’s song history.
If you sign in with YouTube
Signing in with YouTube is optional. It asks Google for one permission: to view your YouTube account (youtube.readonly). It cannot change, add or delete anything in your YouTube or Google account, and it does not read your watch history (YouTube does not make that available to apps), comments or subscriptions.
As a singer
- What it is used for: once, right after you sign in, the titles in your Liked videos and your own playlists are read to find karaoke videos, and those are saved as a playlist on your phone’s Karaokee profile — each video’s id, title, channel name, thumbnail and length.
- What is stored: only that list of karaoke videos. The access itself is not kept: it is handed back to Google as soon as the import finishes.
As a host
- What it is used for: listing your own YouTube playlists (including private ones and Liked videos) and copying the videos you choose into a Karaokee playlist — the video’s id, title, channel name, thumbnail and length.
- What is stored: the token Google issues so you stay signed in, encrypted, on your host account on this server; and the playlist videos you imported. Nothing else from your Google account is kept.
Who it is shared with: nobody. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not passed to any other service.
Karaokee’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing it
- A singer’s imported playlist: open it on the Playlists tab and press Delete.
- A host’s YouTube sign-in: press “Sign out of YouTube” on the Playlists page. The stored token is deleted and Google is asked to cancel the access. You can also remove “Karaoke” at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Imported videos and playlists: the host can delete them on the Playlists page.
- Anything else (your name, your song history): ask the host of the party, or write to the support email shown on Google’s sign-in screen for this app.
Other services
Videos play through YouTube’s embedded player, which is covered by Google’s privacy policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. Song searches use the YouTube Data API. When a host builds a playlist from the song history, song titles (no personal details) are looked up in Deezer’s public music catalogue to find the artist.
